Lewis Hamilton claims his third pole of 2012, but the Spanish GP grid shows some familiar names in unfamiliar places.

A McLaren takes pole ahead of a Williams and a Ferrari, with Lotus just behind, how 'F1' is that, only to be spoiled by Eddie Jordan pointing out that 'the show' was the most important thing

they always say the only true comparison of a driver is his performance against his team mate...

if that's so then what the heck has happened to massa? i never thought he was in the top league of drivers but teflon is making him look very ordinary at the moment.

pleased to see mal and williams up at the front and of course happy that hamilton got p1... however i fear that my hurt him tomorrow with less new tyres through the race :(

here's hoping for a good close race tomorrow.

F1 has officially become like GP2 now and I'm still undecided on how I feel about that. On the one hand it's great to see midfield teams actually being able to threaten the podium once in a while and not having races decided by the start. OTOH, is this really what F1 is/should be about? The engines are already nutured and now the aero regulations are seemingly so restrictive nobody can really make the difference anymore. It's great now for the races, but what will it mean for F1 in the long term (if sportscar racing takes over the technology crown for instance)...

Anyway, interested to see what Maldonado will be doing tomorrow.

Oh dear Jenson has just said he doesn't have any new tyres either and says he will struggle in the race because of balance & no new tyres either, how the hell did he managed to use all his sets in practice 3 & Q1/Q2 despite missing Q3, he said Webber has several new sets so expect Webber to be on a charge although they are so slow through the speed traps, they can't blame the Renault engine for that this year because the Lotus's are the fastest in speed traps with same engine.

Many people at this forum backed Bruno Senna defending him despite lack of results @ lotus... now he had chances to raise his game without any success...

I want to hear something about his backers and justify his poor showing.

Congrats to Pastor and Williams F1. I didn't have faith over Frank Williams gamble and is paying off.
