F1 » Webber: Its 'absolute rubbish' I tried to help Vettel

Mark Webber: I cleared Seb by quite a lot. If I'd wanted to slide him in among other people, I could have slowed down and it would have been even better for the team.

So basically he didn't want to see the fingers pop out on the podium. Whether trying or not he backed up the field so that Vettel got by Lewis. By just a nano second. And Alonso and Nico were just a second or two ahead of him. A couple of slow corners and he could have put Vettel on podium. My guess is that he has NO desire in making Vettel look good. For sure with Vettel not going out in Q3 and expecting everyone to work around his strategy. Good for Mark. Mark kicked Sebs butt all weekend.

Rubbish indeed.

Based on what I've seen of him during his career, it's obvious that this guy doesn't get in to playing games. He is apparently a honorable sportsman, and a straight shooter.

That's the main reason that he would never fit in at Ferrari.

@richard
I could see your point if it were some other driver, but based on past performance, MW doesn't seem the type. Or maybe I've got my head in the clouds.. blue sky and sunny daze.

What you see is what you get with Mark, always has been, always will be, good on you mate. If Mark has a bad day he just says well we didn't do it this time we'll try harder next next time no pouts or fingers, he's a man's man. Whoever made such a ridiculous suggestion has no idea what lapping Monaco between 2 barriers on a changing surface is like.

Richard, "team orders?" when Seb did not run Q3 I said to our son "wonder what Horner is cooking up here to help his finger boy", and for a while it looked bad for Mark, but Mark's grit was 100% he drove a flawless race, being in front of the field on a partially wet circuit is about as tough as it can get and Mark did not flinch. I believe Seb is quicker than Mark, but he ain't half the man.
