Sad news - but at 90, at least a decent age - particularly having driven through the most dangerous era. And as Taipan says - nice tribute Crash.

Very sorry to hear the sad news.Good innings though after a wonderfully active life. Lots of great memories of this very versatile driver from "My" era.

We were lucky enough to see him race at the Goodwood Revival.

Would love to have been priveliged to have heard the banter going on in the parc ferme, he certainley seemed to enjoy him self!

Great character, sadly missed.

I don't think Ive ever heard of this driver. However he would've come from an era where there was character, now sadly lacking in 'sport'

A fine and very hard racer, who I used to see at Crystal Palace circuit in the early 1960's, where he was untouchable. Unlike many at that time, he made a lot of money out of racing, justifiably so because like all drivers in those days he really put it on the line, and he played a big part in the development of the Ford GT40 with John Wyer's Gulf team. It leaves only Moss and Gonzales as the last survivors of the 'heroic' age of motor sport. RIP.

Well said Guitarman!! -Just to add he had a large retainer from one of the oil companies in the early 50s, but like most drivers of that era, he earned his money!

Guitarman,

Please don't forget Sir Jack Brabham.

Reading Jack's biography he described Roy as a mad bastard, (travelling through Europe together) although still to this day one of his greatest friends.

Nice tribute, Crash.

RIP Roy!
