I read last year he was on 22 million Euros from Ferrari plus his advertising endorsements reputed to be around 60 million per year. So 82 million Euros per year dont sound bad to me!! Take away the "dogs chasing their own tails" exaggeration and hes probaly grossing much more than 50 million Euros per season, and that still dont sound too meagre a salary to live on for the year. Horse Whisperer talking to wrong end of horse! #:)

I personally see this as the very reason why the British Govt should NOT put any extra money in to f1 ,as Bernie has crusade about.

Most of the drivers are mega rich and pay very little or no tax ( can't blame them, I would) so putting money into the drivers , the teams and Bernies pockets is out of order.

Its very hard to know who to side with but I would have to agree with Ferrari. The bulk of Alonso's salary comes from Santander the Spanish Bank (as does Button's / Hamilton at McLaren) and with daily talk of banks (incl Santander) needing bailouts - I cannot see them justifying 30mEuro a year on one driver alone.
