I hope that Maria de Vilota will be ok and that her injuries are not severe. Keeping my fingers crossed and pray for good news.

Have just read that the air ambulance is at the scene and Maria is in a bad way, lets hope this is not the case

I read somewhere else she crashed into a lorry. WTF kind of testing were they doing?

I'm guessing it's a head injury but I hope this isn't the case.

"A statement from local constabulary Cambridge Police said: "We were called by the ambulance service at 0925am with reports that a racing car had been in collision with a lorry at low speed at Duxford Airfield. We have since discovered that the driver has a serious injury. We have notified the health and safety executive because the incident was on private land.""

she has life threatening injuries after a slow speed crash, according to sources, what do they mean by slow speed? If it really was slow then it seems that the crash structure has failed for her to receive life threatening injuries.

BBC Cambridgeshire presenter Chris Mann, who witnessed the crash, said the car had completed a circuit when it "suddenly accelerated" into the back of the lorry.

"From where I was standing it looked like the helmet took the brunt of the impact," he said.

Sounds all very strange. Stuck throttle, perhaps? People here will know I'm not a big fan of Maria, but I hope she'll pull through.

I'm of the same mind, Tom. She has barely any serious racing experience let alone in machinery as powerful as an F1. With that said, it's far too early to be placing blame on either her or the car. What's important is that she pulls through what sound like some serious injuries.
