@Tom Leave the women drivers comments out of it. This could happen to anyone male or female. Lets not be insensitive.

maria has plenty of experience, otherwise she would not be a test driver. it appears that she had completed an installation lap and then crashed into the team support vehicle that was on the track ahead of her. possibly filming the test. she is said that she is fighting for her life. lets hope that she can pull through.

Just got an update from Autosport that Ms Villota's injuries are life threatening and they have taken her to Addenbrookes Hospital.

This is the style of news you don't wish to hear in Motorsport.

Hope the news is exaggerated and the Young Lady is fine

Above all though, let's hope she's okay and makes a full recovery - I honestly hoped we would never see this kind of headline again in our sport.

This is just awful news and a reminder that in this sport danger is ever present. My heart goes out to her and all her family and friends at this moment.

@MartinJSUK, this could happen to anyone irregardless the gender of the driver behind the wheel. Right now the important thing is that we hear news about Maria's condition. Question Marusia GP's decision to hire her at another time and place.
