Everyone wants to see excitement in F1, but no one wants to see any driver badly injured. While we all hope for the best recovery possible for de Villota, I'm sure Massa is thinking about how lucky he was not to have been permanently injured by his own freak accident.

The sentiments are nice, but some of the things he said might have been better left for a more personal form of communication than using twitter, given that twittering is by its nature a form of communication designed for public consumption.

Kind and encouraging words from the F1 Paddock as a whole inclusive of Massa to one of their own. I really can't imagine what this young lady would be feeling at the moment but as elijah pointed out positive support from her peers through this difficult time can only be seen as a plus to herself and the respective family.

Both are very lucky to be still alive and I'm sure Massa knows exactly the feeling de Villota is going through. I don't see this loss of an eye as bad luck she has to know she is very VERY luck to be still alive!

@Googolplex... i don't understand why you think Twitter was not the place for Massa to send his encouraging message? What in his Tweet would he have wanted to keep private?

I applaud Massa for his supportive messages to a fellow professional and human being. At least he had the humanity to send a message of support unlike someone else i could mention on another occasion.
