No great surprise. Happy to see Mark on the grid next year. Still would have loved to see him in Red.
Probably the best all round outcome though. Mark is very loyal and he would have been torn to leave. DR & JEV are just not up to it yet, so another year gives all parties involved a bit of breathing room.
Plus, better the devil you know eh Mark.
Anyway, congrats.

Not a Ferrari fan, but would love to have seen mark race for them. Dissapointed, but glad he has secured a seat for next season - not that it was EVER. in doubt.

Why would he want to go anywhere else, I watched a recent bbc prog featuring gordon murrey, the f1 contributers mentioned how drivers just wanted to drive a gordon murrey car, I don't think any current f1 driver would willingly hop out of any adrian newey creation, also the team know that sebastian vettel will have to perform to a very high standard (the last half of 2010 and the whole of last year for instance) to conquer webber

@RejectRonnie

I spent far more time yawning at your illiterate post. If Webber's driving, particularly when battling with Alonso, bores you, I suggest you find another sport to watch.

I actually do think Webber made the right decision to stay back at RB, because at Ferrari, he will be Alonso's no 2 for sure. Also, I presume since he is friends with Alonso, joining Ferrari as a No 2 would dampen their relationship and I don't think Webber likes to be treated as a no2 since he is in the WDC contention now.

Mark probably got RB's commitment to back him to win this year's title, and hence have convinced him to sign for another year. Perhaps have 2 WorldChampions driving for RB next year would boost more marketing dollars...however, I think Alonso will be the 2012 Champion. Vettel will still take points off Webber.
