Lotus don't have the money and they would have to pay off KR as well so that is very unlikely to happen. This sounds like a story put about to rattle McClaren into believing that LH is actually thinking of leaving. LH maybe a bit immature but I think he knows which side his bread is buttered although if McClaren offer him less money than he wants he might just jump ship.

Silly season or not, Martin Whitmarsh needs to remember that Mclaren do not have the exclusive rights to Lewis Hamiltons services and unless they can provide a championship winning car Lewis will eventually lose
patience and move on...

Hamilton doesn't need the money! He wants to win championships. When he came into F1 everyone was convinced he's win multiple titles, well he's won 1 out of 5 so far. Mclaren have been a nearly team with the nearly Boss since Ron left. Sure, Hamilton had a meltdown last year but he's carried Mclaren for years, they know it and LH realises things won't improve. If he's smart he'll take a short contract with Mercedes, its a risk worth taking, v.likely they'll become a very strong team over the next few years and Brawn will help Lewis become a complete driver.

I'm sure all of the other teams have there own ideas on the quality of cars that LH has been given by McLaren, along with there own ideas on the results he has achieved with those cars

Why don't people get it. There is no special need for Hamilton. He has only one championship to his name and that had "cheating" written all over it. Since then he has his ass beanten year in and year out. He still makes silly rookie mistakes and his pathetic bling-bling style makes him a bad marketing tool. He can only stay with the cheater covered in silver ... and silver represents second place and that as high as that team will ever go!

LH deserves a better car, however he's decent enough to appreciate Ron Dennis & McLaren's input to his rise. If Mclaren don't update the car's pace soon,LH has a right to go any where, contract terms pleasing.

Kimi's deal includes a minority ownership share of Lotus. I doubt as an owner he will give himself the boot, and they can't remove him so quickly if he has partial ownership.
