F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone insists that plans for a grand prix on the streets of London are pressing ahead, despite obvious drawbacks.

Bernie fails to understand something. F1 needs this far more than London does. Beyond our happy corner of the world, the vast majority of people don't care about F1, and there is plenty of opposition from those who do like F1. Monace works because it's the biggest event of the year there, F1 in London would be a relatively small fish in a very large pond. It's the same reason that there isn't a race in Paris, Rome or Berlin.

Yeah I remember that come to think of it. Rome hardly need a GP in the same way Monaco does, it would just be a nice addition. Apparently they pulled out because it would have replaced Monza which was nice to hear some respect for Monza's history. Have you ever been to Monza out of interest, it's the race I want to attend above all others.
