Jean-Eric Vergne: We've done some good things, but it's clear that we still have a lot of work to do.

I think JEV has been fairly put back in his box. I like to see new talent being developed, but it was hard for me to swallow the air of arrogance on his arrival to F1. He has been out qualified 8:1 by DR. Now that he is back to earth hopefully he can be more humble and help TR improve the car. So far far for me he is 4/10.

In Y1 and Y2 at STR Vettel blew a lot of stuff up and ran into everything but the safety car - but he finished top 10 often when he did finish - then handed STR its only win to date along with its best to date WCC completions. If STR is recommitting to the business of finding Vettel V2.0, Vergne and Ricciardo had best dig deeper, as they are looking a lot like Algesuari/Bueme V1.1 right now, which as we know are out of date models.

The old argument about vettle and his win is a bit mute. It was in the rain and the class of the car means very little. He did an amazing job of getting the win no doubt about that but i dont think comparing that situation to any other is completely fair. JEV has been a bit pantsed this year. Dominated in qualy He has shown more in the races but i think he been as close to daniel mostly due to Daniel not being able to take advantage in the starts and going backwards at almost every race( seems to be a theme with aussies)

It seems that Torro Rosso will expect a lot more next season. In the few wet practice and race scenario's they have been far more competitive. Different guys develop differently , but Torro Rosso will need to have a more competitive car next year if they want to really get a good comparison between the two.

trent. sorry if i disappointed you. am i not allowed to have an opinion? yes ricciardo has outqualified vergne, but some of this has been due to penalties for vergne. but i will say what i have always said, on race pace, vergne is the quicker of the two drivers. may i ask, are you an aussie?

Richard. Of course you are allowed to have an opinion - it's just flawed me on this topic that you appear to be so closed minded. Before the season had begun you'd written DR off as a non-starter just waiting to be smashed which, given his outstanding junior career and history of dominating team mates, seems contradictory to your usual observations which are balanced and worth reading.

In answer to your question, no I am not an Aussie. I'm not a particularly big fan of Webber or Casey Stoner, while we're on the topic of Aussie's - Webber's never won a championship in any category so to me it's no surprise he's not kicked-on in F1 despite the hype, while Stoner is undoubtedly fast but not mentally strong enough.

Ricky has a bit of a blind spot on this topic, he generally gives balanced opinions. STR can be a poisoned chalice so it remains to be seen if either will disappear after a few years in STR, Vettel was exceptional and unfortunately that's the standard they are looking for. Tost will dump a driver as quickly as Boullier so I'd imagine they are trying their hardest, car isn't that good.
