Only if he manages to gain places by whinging in every race.

He's a good driver but he's not a World Champion and never was. Got lucky with rule changes in 2009. He's not in Vettel or Alonso's league, neither is Hamilton.

Someone posted a few weeks ago, once Button gets a decent car he will be on it again. When the team found him in third place and radioed to him, 'some race winning laps will get us to the leaders.' Him and the pitstop did a good job to close on two fast cars. Pity he flat spotted that tire early on in that stint. But really from so far back I dont think is a driver capable of catching Alonso.

Prove me wrong please Button. Now that the Mclaren seems on form we have hope again.

whitew, you're such an expert aren't you!! I'm quite sure Vettel and Alonso don't consider Hamilton and Button to be in a different league. oh and about Button whinging to gain places, if you have seen the podium ceremony after the last race and the press conference, you would kno that Button was quite a gentleman about it. He chose not to comment on the matter and let the stewards handle it.

@ saffa

Spot on mate. And if you see earlier in the season and last year too (Monaco in particular, pre-red flag) how he manages to just eat away and then DEVOUR a big lead someone has, that is when you see his true potential. Anyone who calls him a second rate driverr is clueless. Second rate drivers don't win WDC's, easy as that...

@ oatt94

Of course he is an expert. We all grovel to his superior intellect... But again, spot on. He is a perfect gentleman when it comes to his behaviour. And I love how clueless haters will ALWAYS resort to the "whinging" insult when a driver answers questions he is asked.

I would love to see Jenson fight his way back into the championship hunt and if his head is right and the car is right then there is no reason why he can't do it as on Sunday he showed his class and he showed why he is a world champion and he has the right attitude unlike his team mate.

On the other side you have the might that is Alonso and he has made no mistakes this season and he is going from strength to strength, I think right now he should just concentrate on podiums & wins like 2009 & 2011 but what a fightback that would be if he could be in contention in Brazil.

I agree with comments saying that he is not as good as Alonso, but out of the current crop of riders, no one is (except Michael in his peak years).
He is not a 'second-rate' or an 'average' driver, no such driver would have done what he did in the Canadaian GP last year, double DRS or not.
As for his bad run this year, not every driver can drive for all these years and have your entire career go perfectly.
