F1 » Alonso: Too early to think of title

Fernando Alonso: It's a good position to be in at the end of the first half of the season, but there are still ten races to go and the gaps between the top five or six teams are very close.

All standard stuff from Alonso, a driver who's seen it all, and done it all. Closing in on the record for most consecutive points finishes. A record he would have smashed but for bumping into JB in Canada last year. But for that blip, Fred would have 35 points finishes on the spin as of now, 21 of them podiums. Pretty awesome stuff.

If Fred wins another WDC, only his harshest critic would say he's not worthy.

I'm not an Alonso fan but nobody can deny his skills in an F1 car. One of the reasons he is so good is that he so rarely has an off day on racedays like all the others do on a few occasions.

Even though I'm not keen on the guy, or on Ferrari, I would have to say that if he won the championship this year it would be fully deserved.

2012 season shows the ability of the drivers to cope on almost equal machinery for the top teams. Ferrari, RedBull Mclaren and Mercedes are half a second from each other. The only difference is the ability of the driver to add that extra to make him and his car win a race. F1 is a team sport, you cannot win on your own, you need a good team to prepare a good car, Vettel's bad luck in Valencia is not really a bad luck, his team just did'nt provide him with a good enough car to finish the race, like they always say, to finish first, first you have to finish. Alonso prove his ability to win 3 raced so far, and that is that little extra, he made Vettel look so ordinary this season.

In the current F1 environment,I firmly believe Fernando is the complete driver,it's difficult to deny him that. He has often driven a bucket of bolts home, and in some case for a win. He certainly has elevated himself in the Ferrari machine, and Massa has helped him look a giant by driving like a second rate. I'd say Massa has had his day in F1, especially with the young guns nipping at his heels, Perez etc.
Fernando is worth every cent Ferrari are paying him that's for sure...my opinion only.
