Heikki Kovalainen maintains that his mind remains on the job at hand with Caterham, despite being linked to several seats further up the F1 grid.

@Taz, as much as I would love to see Kovy at the sharp end again, not sure he would accept being number 2 to Alonso. Only way he gets to Ferrari without that tag is if Alonso et al. manage to underestimate him to the point where they say, 'we'll beat him anyway'.

I'm not completely sure on where we'll see him tbh. Sauber is his strongest connection (rumour-wise) but they're actually pretty spoilt for choice too. It may depend on whether or not Perez jumps ship to Ferrari.

my only concern would be his race craft. Sure he has always been the quickest of the new teams but who has he had to battle with? in three years at Caterham/Team Lotus he has only finished higher than when he started when other cars have had incidents or dropped out.

I'm sure if a top team came calling he'd be off. But I thought it was telling that he didn't know Caterhams plans for him. He said something similar the other year before Tony publicly said he thought Kovi was doing a great job and would definitely retaining him.. I think he wants to know what his options are and if he can get a better deal, which is only natural.

I wouldn't mind seeing him @ Mercedes alongside Rosberg... I think that would be a good fit.

I can't help but feel that when Heikki leaves Caterham, it'll be a huge problem for them. Is there anyone with the raw speed to come close to Heikki? Especially considering the drivers that would even consider joining Lotus.

Look at Grosjean's performance now compared to his 'fisrt go'........
Heiki deserves another chance in a good team that's for sure. I agree totally with the comment above, if Heiki leaves Caterham that would cause them big probs. Maybe they could go for Bottas on loan from Williams, he's got some raw pace!
