pc. yes. i seem to recall that one of the original d types was found, a year or so ago, in what used to be eastern germany ( i think, or anyway, somewhere east of the iron curtain). i believe that it is undergoing restoration now.
but, i know sunny and i have discussed this, these cars had more power than current f1 cars, and ran without pas, on skinny hard tyres etc. on public "roads". those drivers were BRAVE!

pc. and the old 'story, that the mercs were stripped of their white paintwork to save weight, is completely false. on the restoration of one of the mercs, when original rivets etc were removed, there wa NO sign of any white paint. but still, the story sounds good!

best livery / shape for me was the Prost era Ferrari. This yr its between the Mclaren and Lotus altho the Mercerdes shape looks good too, minus the Petronas colours which I hate
