Many are forgetting that Alonso can just have a single DNF and then everything gets so close. He is due one soon by the law of averages. May be Maldonado will have some say in the Championship this year! The DNF can even occur late in the year, so yes nothing can be said until the mathematics rules them out.

With all due respect to the ICEMAN, I have to disagree with Mr. Minardi, Kimmi has been a pleasant surprise this season but to say he's Alonso biggest threat is a disrespect to those drivers that have had better results than the Finn himself. To me, Vettel is the biggest threat, multiple wins and a sure one taken by a failure and RB is on the raise, plus don't forget Mclaren and LH. With that said, I think Alonso is driving at his finest, and Ferrari is feeding from that as well, so is gonna take more than a couple of 2nd place finishes from Kimmi and extraordinary consistency and wins from the rest, to even have a chance to stop a man on a mission to get his 3rd WDC

If it's real, too shame, in 2010 alonso hint by petrov and now by kimi, both in his beloved previous team renault. I think alonso will back to renault if it happened again.

apart from quali where kimi often make mistakes~~~ his race pace has been the best or brillaint couple with his perfect racecraft!! So, minimize mistakes in qualifying and kimi will be unstoppable

SRI, re your opinion ( it sounds more like a wish list) that Alonso can just have a single DNF, yes it can happen and can happen to everybody, and about (Maldonado may have some say) do you think that Alonso is that stupid to do a Lulu with Maldonado?

I agree with Kevin's pragmatic view. A loss of consistency is the greatest threat to Alonso's campaign. With so many potential race winners available it seems the odds of any one of them dominating the second half of the season is slim.
