Alonso's two biggest asset going into the next nine is the competitiveness of the 4 below him. Each time they swap podium steps, they dilute the potential for breaking out and overtaking the Spaniard. This is part of what made Vettels breakaway last season so large, those behind him kept slicing the 2nd and third steps between each other, putting more and more distance between him with each race. The same dynamic can easily play into Alonso's hands in the closing events this season. Going to be fun to watch.

you need a dnf from alonso you need 2 wins and a redbull in front of the ferrari of alonso and you need 2 beat alonso by a average of 10 points in 5 of 9 races 2 pull back the gap ,you need to think % and podiums

Luck/good fortune is a part of winning and Alonso certainly had that in this first halve of the season but according to everybody in the media or anybody being in a position to comment on the results so far all agree that Alonso was the best driver this season so far, the car speed certainly boosts Alonso's driving credentials.
