Well the save the world PC nutters will like such a series but there is nothing green about it in reality.

The batteries have to be charged (which causes pollution) and are made of some very nasty chemicals that have to be concocted in waste product belching factories before deposed of after one race.

The myth of "green" racing is yet another brainwashing scam in today's PC obsessed world.

"Drivers will have to switch cars during mid-race pitstops when their batteries are depleted after 25 minutes."

"The aim of the series is 'to draw competitors from traditional F1 teams'."

I guess they have to drive around city centres, because if you take seriously the statement from FOPA (the F1 circuits), they didn't even like the idea of the latest F1 engine, and threatened not to hold F1 races because the cars may be a bit quieter, The F-E cars will be silent, so no tracks available from FOPA, so no races around Albert Park, Monaco, Valencia, Montreal, NY/NJ etc.

Actually as daft as it sounds it could be quite good.

The TT Zero is a pretty cool event now so it might be interesting to see what ideas the teams (if any sign up) come up with.

I don't know about you guys but where I come from, the electricity coming out of my sockets (hydro and wind, which are renewable) is a lot cleaner and has a much lesser impact than the power my car produces (fossil fuel).

"We expect this championship to become the framework for research and development around the electric car, a key element for the future of our cities"

That sounds brilliant to me. Honestly, I can't get over the number of ppl here who ENJOY pollution.

Old farts talk about political agendas, which is actually an ironic argument as everyone in the UK/US is brainwashed by the oil companies' agenda of the past 100 years. What did BP make last quarter?

As for me, beyond global warming, I just don't like filth and oil and fumes coming out the back of trucks and cars and having to breath that in as I walk to work. Call me crazy.

Does anybody remember the days of front-engined race cars and open-face helmets? Photos of Stirling Moss & co looking like pandas when they took their goggles off at the finish of 3 hour GP's? Strangely enough a lot of the guys from the 30's, 40's and 50's ( who weren't killed racing.... ) lived long and healthy lives without cancer or respiratory problems despite having breathed in fumes and oil for years. Doesn't fit in with the PC agenda though.
