F1 » Lotus names Grosjean replacement

Despite several candidates being listed immediately after the Belgian Grand Prix, Lotus F1 has not strayed too far from home in naming its stand-in for the suspended Romain Grosjean.

The most sensible choice really. Will be interesting to see how he does. If he can score points he'll have done respectably considering the circumstances I reckon. If he can reach Q3 he'll have done well.

Best of luck Jerome. Its always good to see a potential newboy who has done the hard graft in a lower team given the chance rather than an old dog who has been round the block too many times! Ruben.

Obvious and sensible choice. Given the lack of testing in F1 these days, you would have to question what the purpose of the 3rd driver is if if hadn't been JDA.

Now all we need to do is wait for the whinge from Rubens that he has been robbed of a chance to show he still has a future in F1, despite being 176 years old.

Agreed with Oli, although at the same time I reckon Williams would have had a bunch more points if they had retained Barri instead of giving Senna the chance. I understand the desire to finally see a new generation given the chance instead of a very old hand who proved not quite good enough to fight for a title but for a midfield team in particular, it pays to have a veteran on board who can capitalise on a race of attrition like Spa and gets a decent points haul for the year.

I will be in utter shock if he doeas. Like I said, I think given the circumstances, Q3 and a points finish would be ambitious but definitely targets for him.

Talking about replacement.....
Did anyone hear Martin Brundle talking to Mark Webber on his pit walk and say to him something along the lines of how he likes his 'Mclaren' while looking at marks redbull? And then brundle says Ohh sorry! And Mark looked away from the camera with an expression as if to say...Thats the f'in cat out of the bag!. I think Brundle may know more than hes allowed to say!.
I would guess that Mark has been lined up as Buttons number two if they dont re-sign Hamilton. Just a thought!.
