McLaren remains focused on winning a world championship rather than stressing over Lewis Hamilton's contract talks, according to team principal Martin Whitmarsh.

Not sure if any team boss wants anyone who isnt commited to 'the team', Martin Whitmarsh has been gritting his teeth ever since Ron left him in charge of the team with ronsgoldenboy in it.

Who would want someone working for them that was not 100% commited unless they was a fool in business.

I think this is just whitmarsh's way of saying to lewis.
If you dont wanna be here DO ONE because Mclaren dont need you as much as you need mclaren!.

People knock Button, but I think that Button IS THE MAIN reason why Hamilton would even consider leaving the team he has grew up with...
Hamilton prob thinks that teaming up with rosberg would be a good idea mainly because he use to beat him all the time in the junior ranks and he prob thinks that would continue if they were in the same team together!.
I dont think that Mclaren would be hurt too much by their engine deal with mercedes in the long run because Mclaren are a very marketable F1 team and if they dont get good engines they can always go elsewhere... There is still the possibility of them making their own engines i think as i know they have been looking at that option!.

Its between Vetel and Alonso, the 2 drivers who score points at the end of the season more consistently than the others. I wd say only Kimi might be an outside bet if Renault put in a late charge.
Mclaren already lost this driver's championship through calamities. The drivers are not consistent. Whitmarsh is already looking at his options, namely Kimi.

off subject, fascinating to see Alonso and Massa working together by slipstreaming each other for hot laps during quali. shd be worth a few tenths. Can't see the Mclaren boys doe that....and thats the difference.

I agree with you except that Rosberg was unbeaten in lower formulae. I think he beat Hammi in lower formulae and was in F1 (as a test driver) before Hammi.

Hamilton shouldn't need to have Whitmarsh as his crew chief this guy has proved over and over again he is incompetent and no where near to the likes of Brawn Todt or Horner. If there's a reason for Hamilton leaving McLaren the reason is Whitmarsh.
