If Hamilton does sign for Mercedes I feel really sorry for Ross Brawn. He's used to working with dedicated professionals who eat, drink and sleep F1 and are willing to put the work in to get there (Schumacher). Instead, he's going to get a spoiled prima-donna, with delusions of being a global megastar and cries foul when things aren't handed to him on a silver platter.

@ Lewis the great,
Yes, opinion, he has made it clear that he wants to give less of his time to the team, the team in return offering to pay him less seems pretty logical. After the job he has done on track this season the team 'not' aligninig themselves to him is the only reason I can think of why he woudnt sign. McLaren may be a customer team in 2014, so might the team currently known as Mercedes. As i said though, I think Schumacher is the key. Added to this whole tangled web. Williams announced profits of 25m recently, Bernie has apparently payed them early for some reason.

The only way Hamilton will be leaving McLaren is if you FIRST hear the news that Ron Dennis is retiring. Ron is in love with Hamilton and could NEVER let him go.

Hamilton needs to leave Mclaren for another team at some stage otherwise he will never grow into the driver many know he is capable of being. Why not Mercedes with Brawn at the helm and why not for 2013? Makes sense really. I would laugh if he does so with the #1. These young f1 drivers don't grow up in the real world. Hamilton was catapulted into the media spotlight and obviously hasn't been managed well ever since. Give the guy a break. What he does on the track matters, and he tends to do that very well.

LH says he wants to win WDC, but $ seems to be playing a bigger part in his mind. I'm not a LH fan, but he will be hard to replace in terms of capability. He is almost a guarantee to bring at least 1-2 race wins a year. That is hard to replace. On the other hand we all know a F1 driver is not just what he does on track, but also how he acts off track as well. The off track drama can chance performance on tract, e.g 2011.

If he does move to Merc, I wonder how Rosberg is going to take it because you know LH will demand Rosberg play 2nd to him. Maybe a swap between the 2? IMHO, I'd love to see KK @ Macca, but that will never happen.

I wonder how Nico feels about the prospect of being the undisputed number 2 driver? I can't imagine that would go down very well with the German fans. Perhaps Nico will be the one leaving not Michael.
