Red Bull uses the Italian made Magnetti Marelli. Which has now been thrown under the bus by the head of red bull. Ironically the only other unit available is the MES from McLaren Electronics. Also rumored is that red bunk was experimenting with using the KERS in a different fashion than intended. Probably a wording loop hole. Last time red bunk cried for engine help because of power and reliability they were actually working on the off throttle blowing.

rob. trying to start anti rbr rumours again? rbr use a LOWER power kers than allowed, and everybody is aware of that. so what is wrong with that? secondly, it was RENAULT who asked for assistance in boosting bhp, but despite that, they are still down on merc.
you are always shouting about spec series, so why should they not be allowed to match merc? it is not rbr or renault fault that the teams using the most powerful engine (merc) have trouble keeping up!

Tai, I leave no team out of the F1 snake pit. I am also aware of the things that McLaren has done.

Rich...all engine are on Equal terms as it relates to horsepower. Six years with the same formula will do that.

“I want Renault to separate from its supplier Magneti Marelli and use someone else,” Red Bull team boss Dietrich Mateschitz is quoted by Germany's Auto Bild Motorsport.

You know what I mean Sunny! lol

I've found that McLaren first introduced a compressed air starting system at South Africa 1976, but I can't find when "the wand" was first used.

Rob, incorrect report, the Renault engine as supplied to Lotus, RBR, Caterham and Williams is equipped/fitted with a Renault part/alternator (internals by various suppliers) it is fitted on the left side of the engine between the oil pump and oil centrifuge/air separator/filter the lot is shaft driven from the timing gears.
Taipan, correct about the air starter, the most powerful starter motor is a hydraulic starter, the next most powerful is an air starter, an electric starter for an F1 engine needs be at least a 24volts system minimum. The battery used in F1 is a tiny one which will not turn/start a scooter engine.

Sunny..you are probably correct but the interview with Mateschitz is being run on multiple sites. You would think there would be a retraction to save a defamation suit from Magnetti.
