I dont think so, they would have picked up Perez a while ago if they were really interested in him, hence Perez move to a Mercedes powered McLaren. I dont think Perez would have 'added' to Ferrari's brand image if you catch my drift, and I am not saying I think thats a cool thing, but a very probably reality for sure.

Just saw all the tweets begrudging sarcastic remarks towards Lewis for the move, have to wonder if they are stuck in dead end jobs. Lets face it, Mclaren cost Lewis the championship this year because their reliability is rubbish, and then they demand he work on the cheap so that he can get the same treatment next year????

Lewis will end up gaining what ever happens next year because he has the courage to try something new, and thats the only way you learn, become a better person, by doing, not sitting around with the tv remote in hand.

I so wished i put that bet on before all the rumours started.
Brawn/Merc/Lewis could be a formidable team

I think Perez will also do well at Macca. Everything should start to fall into place now for all the other teams given they were waiting for this announcement.

Good for him, hopefully he will find his motivation and passion for F1 again at Mercedes.

Has seemed a bit flat and 'not there' at McLaren over the past couple of years.

IMO the team looked like it became Jenson's mid-way through 2011.

Lol nobody on here should be surprised about this move in the slightest. Twice this season the car has let Hamilton down in crucial situations when he was in prime position to gain important points on the leader or maintain his (then) lead in the championship. A driver of his calibre wants a car he knows can deliver the goods when needed al the time not just some ogf the time. Maybe this will be a wake up call to McLaren to make sure they give the best product they can all the time.

@Clichy
"His management have let him down big time, you ain't a brand if you're not in a big team"

Pretty much what was said when Beckham left Real Madrid for the unknown LA Galaxys (courtesy of XIX)

Beckham is now the richest Brit in sports....
