... anyone who knows anything about F1, reading this story confirms that Schumacher will not be taking an advisory role with Mercedes and in all likelihood be cutting ties with the team, therefore there is a very stong possibility he WILL be driving next year ... or at least involved with another team ... and I think we all know what team that will be ...

... Massa is "close" to agreeing another deal with Ferrari, although that deal could involve a sidewards step too! ... the fact that Schumacher has not confirmed his retirement sems to signal more news on the way! ...

Reading between the lines is critical to deciphering the jargon that is pumped out ... one thing for sure, Schumacher has far too much to offer EVERY team, therefore I can see him not being involved in F1 ...

Lauda may have been a great driver, but his involvement in management has been nothing less than comical. He is solely responsible for Jaguar not hiring Adrian Newey and creating infighting with Bobby Rahal, which sent that team into turmoil. Good luck, but Mercedes is heading down the wrong path.

Hey Unclesam, don't forget that he was involved at Ferrari in management prior to Jean Todt being hired in 1993.
We all know that 1991 to 1993 was probably Ferrari's worst period.

with the past, less than complimentary comments, by lauda with regards to hamilton the interaction between the two will be really interesting and a possible train-wreck waiting to happen.

also as previous posters have said lauda's past record in an administrative role is far from good. this is not the kind of change i think merc need to make to improve their performance.

Strange move ... it doesn't matter really as this team is on a rollercoaster to nowhere. They have been for the past three years. Every year we hear the same promises from Ross Brawn and every year the car is crap. Personally I don't see it changing .... a dismal effort by such an iconic margue to return to F1. At least with Schumi they had some nostalgic support ... now that is lost too.

jj. there is one thing certain. niki knows a hell of a lot more than you about f1. and for your info, he will not be managing the team, but will be assisting in certain matters. maybe in an effort to calm down lulu.

So many questions arise in my mind.

Why have they now hired Loolee as the test pilot?
What will become of Niko?
What will become of Micahel?
What will become of Ross Braun?
What will become of The team?

I think it IS fair to say though, a lot has changed since Niki Lauda had anything really constructive to do with any team.

Good luck to them and I hope Niko gets his chance at being number one driver, sadly Micheal and Loolee are passed it I think. Not sure how this is going to pan out.
