blzbub. exactly, and yet those people have been kept on the payroll, and schumi hasnt. and as chris says, schumi has been made a scapegoat. but what i am saying is that he contributed greatly to the problem due to his crashes etc. the team cannot assess a car, if it is in pieces on the track. had schumi not had his crashes, yes, he would be higher up the order, and it would be unlikely that it would be his head on the chopping block. the car is not quite such a pig as some make it out to be. if it was, then nico would not have won a gp,or had podiums.
you can only compare a car by its two drivers. and when one driver is achieving results, and the other isnt, for different reasons, including his own fault, then something has to be done. i can actually see lulu showing what the car can do.

contd. zetsche is losing his position this year, and he was under fire for the performance of the team. he was a motorsports devotee, so i have no problem with him. he brought schumi into merc, so i would imagine that is why he is making these comments.

if schumi is not responsible, then someone else is. why do merc not try to solve THAT problem first. interesting that lauda is to be the liaison person between daimler and the team. this job was done by haug before.

richard - Did they sack him or did he choose to leave? Plus it is not like they replaced him with just anyone. And he has not crashed excessively. Only one of the race crashes appears to have been his fault. Even that was after a safety car. We have a saying in the U.S. "yellows bring more yellows". Basically crashes are much more likely right after a yellow flag. Even Senna's crash was right after a safety car period and many think that he was the best ever.

With your knowledge of this sport I find it hard to believe that you could place Nico ahead of Michael. I am not sure why you choose to ignore all of the points that the team has cost Michael this season.

mark. zetsche says that they had to look at the alternatives. they previously blamed schumis indecision about driving in 2013, for them making other arrangements.

i didnt specifically say that i put nico above schumi, but the facts are simple, nico won a gp, nico had podiums. schumi was rarely if ever in a position to get een one podium, even ignoring the crashes.

nico now is not as good as schumi 6 years ago, but nico now, is better than schumi NOW. but nico is still not an agressive enough driver to win the wdc.

and yes the team has cost schumi points, and it has also cost nico points.

Schumacher's crashes though concerning, lots of younger guys did bigger mistakes over the years and at a younger age.
Reading some of the comments not alone on here but i agree, if you dont have the equipment to be fast, you try to be as fast as the others, eake the best out of your equipment, especially when you are competitive at heart and by nature.
The drivers error Schumacher made last time around was for all to see and i would say he took his eye of the ball in my own opinion for a split second. It doesn't mean he hasn't got it or not or lost it etc. it just means he made a mistake.
For Mercedes to send him packing as we are being made to believe, may well has been a different story as some Mercedes guy's are falling over themselves to praise him or it is just as simple as they wanted a younger guy.

For Schumacher to retire sounds unthinkable in many ways but may well regretably what will happen. I couldn't see him being without a drive in some Championship for long and you ne

Whether through car/team failures or his own errors and crashes Schumachers karma has caught up with him. I've never liked him. He has no honor, and the sooner he is relegated to just a name in the record books, the better.
