F1 » Chilton to get FP1 outing this year?

The Marussia team could consider giving reserve driver - and 2013 prospect - Max Chilton a run-out in Friday practice at one of the remaining grands prix this season.

This is great news, I've followed his brother Tom in Touring Cars for a long time & I think Max is a better driver but maybe another year in GP2 would be better for him as the last 3 rounds he really upped his game and became one of the top points scorers over the last few rounds.

The FP1 outings will help him develope as a driver.

Classic case of money talks! This kid seems to have been around forever 4 years in GP2, 76 races with 2 wins hardly F1 material really is he? Similar results in everything he has competed in. So sick of it all being MONEY, MONEY, MONEY when you see all that real talent going to waste

Forget the past, he stepped up his game this year.
You vitriol reeks of jealousy pure and simple.
If we had the money we'd do the same as Chilton, but seeing as he's a decent driver we probably wouldn't be as good.
Chilton finished 4th in GP2 this year with two victories, hardly a terrible season. Same as Charles Pic in 2011 in fact, and he's done quite well.

I wouldnt say a decent driver just average. He hasnt upped his game. The reason he finished 4th this year in GP2 was that GP2 has had its poorest quality field EVER Valsecchi won after being in the category for 5 years! All the talent, Bianchi, Bird etc went to WSR.
Why waste all his fathers money he is NEVER going to make it in F1

I've seen him in a few races, wasn't that impressed to be fair. Doesn't deserve to be in F1 based off those results, but sometimes drivers step it up when they get into F1 so who knows.

Good looking kid, is he really 21. looks like a young Steve McQueen.
Unfair to sell him short, let him have some time at the helm, then
we will get some idea if his a true 'Hot-foot' If the family has some cash
that will surely help..Time will tell..
good smile, good luck Dude!

Valsecchi will never be mentioned for F1, you need to impress immediately in a category like GP2 like Hamilton and Hulkenberg did winning races and championships not make up the numbers for 4 or 5 seasons like Valsecchi and Chilton and only start winning when there is no serious competition

Chilton had 3 seasons in GP2.
Maldonado had 4 and he's an F1 race winner.

Time spent in lower categories is meaningless, it's what you do once you get to the top that counts.
Kobayashi was useless in GP2, no-one would say he doesn't belong in F1 now would they?
