F1 » Button: 'we didn't have the pace to do better'

Jenson Button admitted that McLaren didn't have the pace to get on the podium at Suzuka, but a flying start and avoiding the first corner mayhem meant he bagged a useful fourth place.

McLaren "didn't have the pace" and Button doesn't have the points to give him a realistic likelihood of winning the championship.

It's between Alonso and Vettel, with Raikkonen and Hamilton as outsiders.

As I predicted Button beat Hamilton today. There are still enough points on the table for any of them to win the title. It ain't over till the fat lady sings!
Anything can happen, and probably will, as we have seen today and in the last few races.
It's looking like a bit of a lottery.
Feel a bit sorry for Fernando.
Very Happy for Kamui and Sauber, BUT, in a way sorry JB did not get past him.

typical McLaren reliability. Jenson didnt have the pace, full marks to Lewis for moving up after a disasterous qualifying to finish right behind the guy who was over a second faster, on the same team.

Whitmarsh, your days are numbered.

sorry dude, but you have no idea what you are talking about.

McLaren lost today because Red Bull were the better bunch.
McLaren failed to reach the podium today because they backed a slower driver.
McLaren will fail because they are arrogant. Mercedes cannot afford to be arrogant, and so my argument can never apply to Mercedes,

but dont let stupid fanboys keep from drawing out unreasonable gross generalizations. (strawman fallacy)

Pcxfanboy, some questions to confuse you...

1. In the 60+ year history of F1 what driver out of all that have completed 100+ races has had the best reliability record?

2. In the 60+ year history of F1 what driver has had the fastest pitstop?

3. In the 60+ year history of F1 what driver is the only one to be given a race winning car each season for the first 6 years of their career?

To prevent you hurting yourself the answer to all three is Lulu and the team that gave him all of that are McLaren, enjoy it while it lasts because next year you really will have a team to whine about!

you are as antiquated as your arguments.

1. argumentum ad antiquitatem

2. argumentum ad antiquitatem

3. argumentum ad antiquitatem

and the focus of my argument is not Lewis, its McLaren's arrogance, which is only but just eclipsed by your appeals to authority and stupidity.
