Celebrating his 24th Grand Prix victory in Japan, Sebastian Vettel was proud to have equalled the tally of the legendary five-time world champion Juan Manuel Fangio.

a great acheivement, but dont forget, fangio had only a quarter of the number of gps to attain his total wins. i think that there were only 5 gps a year then.

i think that ratio wise, fangio is still well ahead (over to you ty!)

I reckon Fangio in a RedBull today would have won way many more races than Vettel has managed
-but Vettel would have won NOTHING in any of Fangio's rides back in the day.
Its all bout driving skills, you see . . hehe !

Vettel is 25 not 26.

Less gps per year made it easier percentagewise.
Vettel has the best record of the current drivers bar Schumi. Percentagewise Seb is close to Senna too though Seb has had 96 races and Senna around 196.

Doowat, Fangio was a brilliant driver with a completely different set of skills to current drivers, I don't imagine he ever witnessed 2G in a racing car so facing 5G in a current car may have made his head fall off, if he could fit in the thing to start with.
