Gerhard Berger questions if Ferrari should retain Felipe Massa

IMHO, Massa has been the star employee any team wants. He played second to MS, second to KR, stepped up to #1 when KR was just flaying around, the back to #2 when FA shows up. He has done for the most part what Ferrari have asked of him. Since the accident he hasn't had anything spectacular to go on, which is sad b/c I like Massa a lot. There aren't too many drives in the paddock will take "Fernando is faster than you" like he did.

In the end Ferrari know there are plenty of faster drives out there faster than Massa, but will they take orders like Massa? Will it up set the team harmony and balance? Massa might not be the fastest, but he doesn't rock the boat and that worth a lot.

I think Massa knows if he was ever to win a title he would have already done so. He knows his opportunity has probably passed, and now is just collecting checks and getting to drive a Ferrari week in and week out. Not really a bad place to be in my book.

I think FM has relaxed a bit and has stopped overdriving the car. If he can stay relaxed and ignore the speculation about whether he will or will not be re-signed then I think we might see him on the podium again this season.

@JJ - I understand what you're saying, however I disagree that Massa has been the ideal driver for Ferrari. The ideal place for Ferrari's second driver is immediately behind Alonso, so they're taking points off Alonso's WDC rivals but not Alonso himself.

The second driver should also be helping out in the WCC stakes. For Ferrari to have one of their drivers leading the WDC, yet only be in third place in the WCC further shows how poorly Massa has been performing.

One podium in two years is not enough when your teammate has had 18 in the same car.

P.S. My log in doesn't seem to be working...?

Personally i would like to see massa teamed with either vettel or kimi. every time massa is in the same vicinity or in front of alonso he seems to loose confidence and the team will do anything for alonso. Btw massa is fast, beating shui and kimi ect in the same car.
