Now that we've got our deferring definitions of buffoonery and football hooliganism off our chests, can we do the same for what constitutes a "real F1 fan?"
In my books, a real F1 fan would truly appreciate the incredible talents of the top drivers like Lewis, Alonso, Vettel and Kimi.
A real F1 fan is one who realises that quite a large proportion of F1 engineers come from distinguished backgrounds in military aircraft.
A real F1 fan doesn't bring ridicule to a sport that is at the pinnacle of mankinds technical achievements by resorting to unreasonable hatred, rumour, innuendo, mud-slinging and gutter sniping.

A real F1 fan stands in awe of F1, their appreciation of their favourite team and driver is neither inspired by alcohol, nor is it driven by a herd mentality.

We can keep our comments both clean and moderate. Thanks.

A real F1 fan? To me a real F1 fan is a fan of the sport of F1 first and foremost, not a fan of the individual. Supporting an individual to the extent that they can do no wrong in ones mind is a very good comparison to your football fan analogy, my team is better than yours just because it's my team, no better reason than that. A real F1 fan makes an attempt to understand the sport and base their judgements of the sport on fact rather than blind infatuation of the individual.
If I am confronted by stupidity I will question that stupidity, if you wish to consider that as hatred of an individual then you are mistaken. I hate no one, but I also put no one on a pedestal as I am in awe of no one. We all have talents, we all have flaws.

As for keeping it clean, gutter sniping, mud slinging etc, I'll remind you that it was you who decided to call me a buffoon, I have been nothing but respectful to you so far...

Temper! Temper! I didn't mention names alongside "buffoon," so how you've come to conclude that special reference was made to your kind self puzzles me. Please lets keep it clean.

You argue with my definition of a real fan being an admirer of the sport who certainly doesn't go around bristling with hostile intent, hauling insults and belittling F1, yet you seem intent on "correcting" other fans tastes and choices with the choicest pick of words. That attitude surely veers sharply from the straight and narrow, my friend.

Why can't we all simply admire the drivers of our choice and not turn every conversation into a hate fest? I'm not an Alonso fan, but I'll be the first to tell you that he is a top driver, same goes for Vettel. My F1 stars are Hakkinen, Kimi and of course, the great Lewis hamilton, yet there is space to acknowledge others without insult or anger.
Where a fan goes wrong is when their attitude degenerates into unhealthy practices that see them denigrate fans on

opposing sides as well as the drivers or teams they love. What is the gain in such football hooligan style behaviour? What gain is there in sounding faecal about drivers you've most likely never met (nor are likely to ever meet)? Its just not healthy or right.

The sheer volume of vitriol that gets poured out each time Lewis is mentioned or when (as you put it) his fans are being "helpfully" "corrected that he can do wrong" is mind boggling. The honest person has to ask where it is all coming from. For example, several drivers have beards (Alonso, Grosjean, Lewis), but we only hear about Lewis beard from those who wish to "correct" his fans. Also, several F1 drivers live in Monaco (including British ones, Lewis, Jenson and Coulthard), but we only ever hear about Lewis living abroad. Why? What is the real reason behind these attacks and "corrections" (hidden or visble)?

I'm sure we can all do a better job.

I will excuse myself for being 12 hours too late, A hypocrite of the first order pops up on here the likes of which I have seen quite a lot on here from time to time.
I will tell you where The sheer volume of vitriol/bile/BS that gets poured out on these pages comes mostly from (at least ninety nine percent) of it comes from Lulu one eyed fan boys like you, this staff is mostly against (1) his own team (2) his own boss (3) his own team mate (4) against any driver on the grid that beats him or is doing better hen him.

Quade, temper temper? I've shown you no temper what so ever, you seem to be imagining things. Perhaps you think your arguments are good enough to get under my skin and result in raising my temper? Trust me my friend your arguments are no where near that good, they're not even original, I've heard them all before many times.
I see your most recent comment was deleted for attacking other contributors, that's a shame, as I thought you were serious when you suggested that we kept our comments "clean and moderate" As I said before, when it comes to setting standards best to lead by example...

Evening Sunny, I'll be back soon my friend. :)
