F1 » Vergne celebrates 'best race of the year'

Jean-Eric Vergne: I am really really happy, as this was definitely my best race of the year. In general, we seem to be making progress and this track seemed to suit us well. The best part of the race? Seeing the chequered flag in the point

@Richard will be in his element here.

JEV finishes ahead of DR. Mechanical issue for DR that causes him to loose at least 10 seconds and makes room for an easy overpass letting JEV through? Nope if he was a better race driver it never would have happened and it's proof he is better...ha

And Richard says he is allowed an opinion in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...

Great result for Toro Rosso. A shame that Daniel had problems at the end that saw him drop over 10 seconds to end up being passed by his team-mate, considering that he started in 21st and Jean-Eric started in 16th. A great drive by both drivers.

Great drives by both of them. I think these guys are both F1 drivers for the long term. Daniel was unlucky with the problems he had at the end, but then he did have the good fortune of Lewis getting carpeted which allowed Daniel to hold on to 9th.

rawpace. he spun at the last corner on his fast lap.

harv. ricciardo ruined his tyres, verne didnt. ricciardo went off the track, vergne stayed on it.

by the way, vergnes dice with schumi was great, and clean.

@Richard
Ricciardo had a gearbox penalty, Vergne didn't.
Ricciardo had a suspension problem pulling his car to the left under braking the whole time, Vergne didn't.

@Richard

Did an Australian kick your dog or steal your wife in the past? You've got blinkers on...

Jev ran strong but Dan walked all over him in performance. His car was broken, that's the only reason he gave up 8th. fairly and cleanly to his teammate i might add, which shows good character imo. Jev even said as much himself..

JEV is satisfied by how he managed his progress through the whole race, not especially against his team mate (who was indeed unfortunate).

Jean-Eric has improved on his weak point in qualy while keeping his strong racecraft - hopefully he won't come across - or rather the opposite - with Schumy in every race -so, definitely quite a satisfying first season for the young rookie.
