F1 » JYS: Vettel no F1 great

Sir Jackie Stewart believes that Sebastian Vettel needs to prove himself away from Adrian Newey-designed cars before he can be called an F1 'great', but suggests the German would be mad to go to Ferrari just now....

I hate it when people say Vettel only won it because of the car, the 2010 season was an epic one and if am correct the title was fought between Webber, Alonso and Lewis but Lewis fell away after either Singapore or Japanese GP due to DNF and Gearbox failure. it was Webber and Alonso who were neck and neck, Vettel snatched victory from the jaw of the Lions mouth in the Middle East. The following year he blew everyone away, back in 1994 Schumacher scraped a win, the following year he blew everyone away, people like Jackie Stewart said back then he cant do it in another car so he moved. Vettel has a driving style that's unique, he could drive on the racing line from beginning to end at high speed without moving out of it, unless if he wants to overtake. Alonso following Petrov around for more 30 laps Vettel would have put the his championship on the line and risk everything to pass Petrov.

Looks like Jackie Stewart is back on the sauce. I rank him right there with Alonso and Hamilton. Similar talents. All three of them are jealous of a young man who has already done as much as all three of them combined, and who is OBVIOUSLY going on to be much greater than JYS ever imagined he was. I knew JYS was an idiot when I saw him at Indianapolis a few years ago parading around like everyone wants to see him. Its been 40 years since he did anything. Step aside and behold one of the greatest in the making... Sebastian Vettel!

I guess, then, that Jim Clark was not a great driver because he only won GPs in Lotuses designed by Colin Chapman... (Okay, I don't really believe that, but if you apply JYS's logic it seems like that's what you'd conclude.)

At the same time, I do hope that at some point Vettel goes up against someone like Alonso or Hamilton in the same car, just so we can make better comparisons...

Lets be honest here anything negative about Lewis there more agrees something positive less agrees vettel is a good driver maybe the 3td or 4th best alonso and Lewis occupy the first two its either kimi or vettel who wouldn't like win to win easy Wdc no one vettel just added 3wdc just like that but this year everyone knows who is 3 Wdc it's alonso no matter what happens in many experts drivers and even maybe vettel will k ow it was alonso title vettel won it by default of Ferrari not being upto pace maclaren are worse the failures dnf pit stops bad strategies Lewis and alonso made no mistake at all this year Lewis one mistake in Hungary where he set up the car wrong

For the LuLu fanboys out there, they keep saying that Vettel isn't great, but Alonso and Lulu are. No one seems to be able to argue with Alonso, but Lewis?

Come now boys, let's be reasonable. If Seb isn't great then Lewis is crap. The results speak for themselves.

off topic......cosworth are being sold off. likely buyers rolls royce (aero) or gkn. so presumably that is the end of any possible f1 engine supply?

now, i wonder if vw/porsche would be interested?
