I've thought for a while that Felipe is a pretty good barometer for the competitiveness of the Ferrari, with the limited testing, he has carried out most of Ferrari's testing during race weekends, often to the detriment of his own performance. The team may struggle to find a 'team player' to take over from Felipe.

Whilest I do like felipe as a driver, he hasn't got to grips with the car over the past couple of seasons and has therefore been out performed by Alonso. But while Massa hasn't been performing he has a lot of experience, not just in F1 , but with the team and the car ect. so what were Ferrari going to do, keep the guy they know will be a team player and who they know, or someone completely new with not as much experience and no knowledge of how the team works and could possibly out perform Alonso? They were always going to go with the safe bet of Massa

On his early season performances I would have said no but he has found his old mojo lately and is looking better than Alonso at the moment. He would have beaten Alonso twice if ut wasn't for team orders.

Ferrari know that Massa will do what they ask him to and be a number 2 driver to Alonso. It is a safe option and if he keeps driving like he has been lately he will gather valuable points towards the constructors championship.
