"feels that Alonso is the only driver in the sport operating on his own level"

I'd say Vettel and Alonso are at a higher level if you take raw speed out of the equation. Hamilton has off days more often than the other two.

Suspect I'll get some stick for this one.

Yeah, he is not lucky to debut with fastest car, also he is not lucky to drive 6 years for one of the best team in F1. From the next year he finally be very lucky to drive Mercedes in the middlefield!

Mclaren may be one of the best but they have done nothing in the last 10-12 years, one WDC from Lewis.

Let's not make out that Mclaren have been great over the last 12 years because they have not. Ross Brawn has achieved far more than Ron and Martin in the last 12 years.

You might just be in for a surprise next year, Ross and Mercedes have been working on the car since the first race.

I can't wait to read the butt hurt comments next year if Lewis is right up there lmfao. But Lewis has already said he does not expect to win so why would you reminding him that he might be in a slow car other him.

Poor Randy..

Now, Lewis Hamilton is a driver who has committed many, many mistakes in 2009-2011.

Say what you want, But he has made no mistakes almost this season. (I stress "almost")

-Terrible pit stops in the first 5 races- cost him so many precious points.

-2 DNF's- not his fault (yes, including the incident with Maldonado who GOT a penalty)

- First in qualification and then starting LAST because of his team's mistake

- 3 technical failures in the last 3 races

- some strange team strategic calls in the first races of the seasons (in the wet mainly)

Vettel and Alonso had their own share of problems, but nothing similar.

Now, these are FACTS. You can't argue with it. Even if you really hate LH.

No one can win a championship with serious problems in 10 races (and the season is not over yet), even if in the other 10 they have a very good car (and even in those 10 races he did not have the best car on the grid. No point in having the best car if you suffer from one of the problems above).

liaminsult. for goodness sake, macca has had one of the best cars over the last 10 years, but they have lost wdc/wcc for various silly causes. ie backing the wrong driver, stealing ferrari secrets, punishments etc. in effect, others have benefited, not because they had better cars, but purely due to macca muck ups and driver muck ups.

Richard, even the car Mika Hakkinen drove emerge as a result of Williams loosing Andrian Newey to GUESS WHO? I think they lost the renault engine as well!

Oh dear, such an unlucky boy, isn't he? Boo hoo. If there was any justice he'd just keep winning the WDC over and over again until he'd stashed away enough lucre and was completely bloated with admiration and self-love. I guess two out of three isn't too bad though.

andy. as i said on another thread, you do really need to brush up on your f1 history. macca have consistently been one of the fastest cars for yonks. there has been no other team that was able to take the fight to schumi in his ferrari heyday.

please list the cars (before rbr) that were faster than the macca over the last decade or so?
