F1 » Karthikeyan move would benefit more than driver

Suggestions that Narain Karthikeyan would be better off in another team may have wider benefits for India's F1 involvement.

There is currently only 7 out of the 20 countries on the calender that have drivers representing them. I think that drivers should be picked because they deserve to be in F1 and not because of their birthplace and sponsors.

It has always been about money. In the old days you needed the coin to literally buy your own racecars and go racing and for decades it has been the way it is now, you need to come from a privileged background to be a racing driver. Stories about people making it on their own usually disregard the fact that at least the money was there to start out in karting, which to do at a top level is already too costly and/or time consuming for most families to do.

And even if the cash is there you still need to have someone (parents) willing to schlepp you and all your stuff to the tracks every weekend. If you happen to live a couple hours from the nearest tracks that's a pain.

So basically, you need to be very lucky to become a racing driver and this will remain to be the case.

They must be joking, the man can't cut the mustard, and possible the worst driver in F1.
F1 should be about your ability to drive and not based on commercial decisions, that would be a farce, but hang on a minute, isn't F1 a farce anyway with the stupid dodgy tyres, DRS systems and kers and all the other stupid rules about engines, revs and crap? Its all unnecessary and just take it all away and let them do what they want and race!
