This is just stupid. Punishes the top teams for success, but really hurts the mid-fielders who could use all the money they can for R&D. It's bad enough when some teams need a pay driver rather than award a drive based on skill.

Unbelievable - they are going to triple their fees in one go. Well if the organisers want to cripple F! I don't hold out much hope for continue F1 at the highest level. Red Bull & Ferrari will have to field 10 teams each.

"while remaining teams will pay an additional $500,000 US for every championship point." It seems that Crash is off by a few decimal places. It should be $5000 per point - (Corrected, sorry - Crash.net!)

The FIA probably needs the money to buy more security for next year's race in Bahrain. Think of it as the FIA's defense budget.
