At this stage of the season I am grateful for every glimpse we get of Schumacher at the wheel. The name of this game is winning and while it's all so easy to get influenced by who's your favourite or who's the most charasmatic, the numbers prove that Michael is the sport's supreme champion.

You've got to wonder about fans who don't appreciate they're part of a privileged generation who got to see Schumacher race.

The fact he steps into retirement still commanding total respect from his younger rivals says it all.
