F1 » Raikkonen and Lotus shine in the desert night

A perfect start off the grid put Kimi Raikkonen into 2nd place in Abu Dhabi, and when race leader Lewis Hamilton succumbed to electrical issues the Finn seized his chance for glory.

But in truth Vettel did actually make quite a few mistakes in his driving didnt he , hitting things etc and was lucky that the Safety Car helped him out a couple times

Plus he was driving a totally rejigged car which I think is a bit unfair and lessened the impact of the penalty he received

He also took quite a long time before he eventually got past Button

Passing backmarkers in the fastest car on the grid is not really that difficult is it.

I must say I thought Webber drove abysmally today

Why am I not surprised that Vettel still gets no credit.

Hamilton would have been hailed as the greatest ever under identical circumstances. Look in your hearts, you know it's true.

quoted@pc: "He also took quite a long time before he eventually got past Button"

That kind of dumb hate says it all. Didn't realize the Mclaren was such a dog of a car.

@iceman

Not really a Hamilton fan -- so thats not at all true

Thats not hate thats just stating a fact ( and I most certainly am not dumb )

The McLaren wasnt a dog of a car but Vettel's was on fresher, different compound tyres and was set up differently and regeared specifically for the race ie not the car that was used to qualify as Buttons was.

Incidentally I like Button but wasnt that impressed with him and thought he could have driven with a bit more grit

You are the one who needs to stop hating just because I have a slightly different opinion to you ok

Fastest laps for the race make interesting reading actually puts the Ferrari a very close second to the Red Bull with just over 1 tenth of a second between them (actually 0.126 of a second) Third fastest was Kimi but his fastest lap was almost half a second slower(0.494) whilst Jenson's Mclaren was 0.569 back in 4th fastest position.

So you see the Ferrari is not such a slouch of a car as Ferrari and Alonso would have us believe.

By your simplistic method of using this race as the basais for determining the best driver for the last 20 years then surely it should be Kimi at the top of that list closely followed by Seb.

"So you see the Ferrari is not such a slouch of a car as Ferrari and Alonso would have us believe."

Listening to Alonso (and the Vettel haters) going on about how the Ferrari is about as fast as a twelve-year old Vectra does get tedious. But it's necessary for them to believe it, so they do.

"do you really believe webber has the SAME car? How do you know that?"

Do you really believe that Webber has a DIFFERENT car? How do you know that?
