Whitmarsh has already realized that he was too hasty in his decision to sign Perez, what a joke,..couldnt even come up with a good plan B. Lewiss departure announcement caught him out on the back foot, since Turkey 2010,he simply just cant stop making mistakes.
All this spin is garbage, he has always given the impression that they favour neither driver, its a fact that over the last 2 seasons their development path has been more favourable to mr NO GRIP, and this obsession has made him blind, he needs to own up for his mistakes.Im sitting back enjoying the show, and the part where it really gets funny, is when the silberpfeil take back their livery.!

both Nico and Lewis are much better drivers than the ones at McLaren, if Mercedes come up good, expect to see McLaren look like right jack***es next year. Mercedes need to give 'enough' support for each of their drivers, keep the team morale up and get their engineers heads wrapped around developing a quality aero package and a firm grasp about how to maximize tire wear.

McLaren will be found out next year if Mercedes come up good with their car, they dont even need a dominant car, just something thats almost as good as the Macca to take McLaren in the WCC next year.

Button is an above average driver and Perez is a bit unknown. So McLaren are on abckfoot next year and if Perez turns out to be another Button, then they can think of quali second row at best and then win if the front people go out of the race.

I think perez will do ok but i really can't see Mclaren doing much next year as they messed up with losing Lewis and they have been designing the car for him so they have to start all over again,Also Buttton is way overrated i really can't see why poeple rave about him he seems to need the car perfect to do anything, with Lewis he can have a dog of a car and will drag it round the track at the limit and get a good result

Mixed bag of opinions here. Looks like McLaren may have signed Perez when they knew Lewis was going. That was months ago when Perez was doing OK. Perez has gone down in my estimation lately because of his fails/non points/no podiums etc since mid season. I suppose the contracts would have been signed by then. As a passive McLaren fan for a few years, I CANNOT understand how they let Lewis go.
Presently, surely DiResta's consistency is a better option than Perez.

I personally would have tried to nab Grosjean.

Apart from him, Perez or the two Force India drivers, I cant think of any others they could have signed, available or not. (Maybe except for Rosberg, but he wasn't shifting)
