@bob
Sounds a bit like Schumacher too - left Renault in 96 after winning the title, to go to a very uncompetitive team (Ferrari).

At that point though, the stories go opposite directions.

bob. your comment about others, is uncalled for!

but as for jacques joining another team that morphed into merc, did you not know that bar was set up by jacques manager, FOR jacques. JV wanted to be part of his own team and took a huge gamble. it didnt pay off alas, but he was prepared to TRY. and jacques is also competing still in a variety of formulae (successfully), so he is entitled to a bit of credit.

@bob surprisingly JV also won his only championship in an Adrian Newey built car too.

I'd have to disagree with JV's comments that Alonso remains cool, calm and rational. He whined, claiming Rosberg was pushing him off the track in Bahrain when he was nowhere near alongside him, he was trying to claim Webber was holding him up in qualifying in Abu Dhabi. Has anyone noticed that when he tries to get someone penalised him and his team would suddenly be talking in English? That's grabbing attention lol Then there's the incident in Suzuka, doing a bit of a Grosjean himself.
Not to take anything from Alonso, he's been one of the best drivers out there, ringing the neck out of that Ferrari lap after lap but what JV has not been doing is looking at it objectively.

So Alonso standing in the corner prior to going to the podium acting like a spoiled brat is maturity. he has done it several times recently.

He engages with no one.

While waiting to go onto the podium last race, Alonso engaged with Raikkonen, right up to the point where Vettel showed up, his lone challenger this season, the guy mooted to replace/partner him, they all whinge when things dont go their way (I recall Jaques complaining before the race had even started), we may not agree with his opinion, he is entitled to one, no need to be insulting.

Well JV,we all know that talk is cheap, but not only Vettel, but Alonso too has been extremely lucky this year. McLaren had hit the ground running in Melbourne, and if they had wanted Hamilton to be in a good position to be fighting for the crown, they would have given him that wing in Spa. Lets face it, after Budapest, he could have won every race, and where would Vettel be now !

I really wish people would quit saying " Alonso deserves the title". If he wins it, he deserves it. If he doesnt win it, he doesnt deserve it. As far as Seb being immature, i personally have always viewed him as being very mature for his age

As some may know, I'm not a huge SV fan, but I give credit where it is due. And being on the verge of a third WDC is worthy of credit, particularly after that 24th to 3rd performance in Abu Dhabi.
JB pulled off a slightly better performance in Canada last year, but SV was impressive nevertheless.
Nobody wins 3 WDC's by chance, and even with the superior machinery that he is gifted with, he still has an unmatched talent for a qually lap.
Alonso is very good, but also, along with the team, heavily into gamesmanship and if he wins, fair enough, but I'd say it's fairly even as to who "deserves" the title this year.
