F1 is not a competition of who wins best, or who impresses old pundits the most. F1 is a sport where the driver (supported by a team and car) who wins the most wins the Championship. Alonso and Vettel are where they are because McLaren fell on its face, while Lotus failed to develop enough, reducing this to a 2-team finish. Red Bull and Ferrari have done well overall against the others while both drivers have accomplished more that the others with what they had to work with... period. Who "deserves" the WDC is an irrelevant and stupid argument.

For those who continue to insist on denigrating SV based on RBR success, let us remember Alonso winning 2 titles in a car with mass damper system later outlawed, Button the double diffuser , Schumacher with his Rory/Brawn pairing and the Bridgestone connection, Andretti with Chapman ground effects brilliance, Prost with Williams active suspension, Senna with McLaren/Honda excellence. Fangio with superior Ferrari power. Superior car performance - including pressing rules interpretation - driven by superior drivers is how one wins in F1 - Get over it already.

the bashing of Villeneuve "less diserving champion ever" is completely retarded.

he won the only championip of the last decade or decades, decided by an actual overtake at the last race on the leader of the championship (Schumacher...).

after Williams, the guy wasted his career running for a terrible Bar Honda, give him break wtf

Villenueve has never been affraid to say controversal or unpopular things. It really doesn't matter if you agree with him or not. I have always found his comments more interesting than most other drivers.

I will say that JV has a habbit of praising some drivers while knocking others. As I recall he got a little chummy with Schumacher when he was trying to unsettle Hill. Of course that went out the window when MS tried to take JV out the year he won his WDC. When Alonso was Vettel's age he made some petulant comments too. There was the time he got a blocking penalty in Monza and complained that F1 is not a sport.

Shouldn't really take much notice of what JV says, this is the guy who said earlier this year that Raikkonen will be dropped from Lotus, that the drivers are daddy's boys, that Rosberg should have been dropped. I've yet to even hear anything positive come out from him, such as what a great season its been with different winners and lots more overtaking.

If Im not mistaken, this is the late Gilles Villeneuve's son (Jacques)who was killed in the F1 Ferrari sometime in the 1980's. Well then he must know a thing or two about Ferrari and F1 drivers. Jacques did well in IndyCar (or formerly CART?) and F1 too. As for myself, I cant comment on either Alonso or Vettel as Ive never met them in person apart from what I saw of them on TV. Jacques could be right though.

Vettel is an interesting character, would people really prefer him to stand there looking bored after winning a race.

Also for me any guy who wins back to back titles or maybe even 3 in a row is an amazing driver whatever car they have.
