F1 » NASCAR clash always likely, admits Horner

Team bosses admit that going up against NASCAR finale is unfortunate for USGP, but agree that F1 needs to make Austin event work for it in future years.

I don't see much overlap. It's like a scheduling conflict between a wine-tasting and a pie-eating contest..... it is not really a conflict at all.

Besides, the NASCAR moment came and went. Their numbers (TV, attendance, & sponsorship dollars) are way down. They will go back to tractor pulls or fake pro-wrestling or something. Maybe CB radios will make a comeback. Who cares?

Yeah, I don't think the clash is really much of a clash. I would suspect the two are fairly different markets. I think the bigger problem is the apparent lack of promotion for the F1 event. You might not be competing with NASCAR for its fans, but the people in charge probably should have done something to actually try attract some people to the event instead of just running it and hoping people would turn up.
