Ferrari WILL change Felipe Massa's gearbox in order to help team-mate Fernando Alonso's chances in the USGP.

Maybe F1 should go back to racing like it was in the old days - like when Fangio etc had their break down they would flag the number 2 driver into the pits then boot him out of the car so the number 1 driver could take it over.

This really is no big deal. The rules allow for it, and it is arguably as traditional as F1 can get.

It is Ferrari's duty to do everything possible, at this stage, to help Alonso win the WDC. Had Massa been performing earlier in the season as he has of late, Ferrari may have been in contention for the Constructors Championship and this probably wouldn't have happened.

If alonso was that good a driver he would'nt need to get his team mate to move back for him. if he dose win now it will always rememberd as the WC he won because he cheated not because he was the best driver. I hope vettel wins now.

hi all, actually Ferrari didn't cheated..
there's two dip of oil leak seen at the side of the gasket.

so we have to break the seal to inspect it.

BACK TO REALITY:

we shouldn't be getting so much fuss over this as this is what we can clearly see..

like some one mentioned, RBR has no problem lapping Tororoso.. they move aside cleanly.. haha..

Alex, as genius as the badminton players that were disqualified afterwards???
If any team were going to do this it would probably be Ferrari, They can use team orders now and when Alonso is faster than you do you understand was used they were banned (team orders)
Whislt Alonso is obviously a very talented driver he also wants it on a plate and is quite happy to have underhand tatics used in his pursuit of (hollow) victory.Didn't like being an equal driver at maclaren, convenient deniability at singapore and now this at ferrari. Maybe a rule change to if you break the seal you change the gearbox, which at this stage of the season probably would mean an old box. Also could be made to start at the back of the grid with the original grid spot left empty preventing the shuffling up the grid of a team mate. I'm definately in the Anyone but Alonso camp now

Didn't RB decide to start from the pit lane in Abu Dhabi when Vettel was penalised and then changed his car set up to race set up instead of the set up he qualified with. Didn't a lot of people complain about this and call this cheating? So is what Ferrari done today any different to what RB did then? They both "used" the rules to benefit Seb and Alonso in the race. The only difference is Seb benefited when he should have suffered from a penalty.

Kimir that has been quite common though in the past, and no one gains an advantage. All the other cars must be past the pit lane exit before any one in the pitlane is released, as it is controlled by a traffic light. Not sure why they did it, probably to avoid any carnage at the first corner but the result would be he would be further back than if he had started at the back off the grid. Was probably done by the team to stop him getting too carried away in the first corner. He was put at the back of the grid for not having enough fuel for the sample. He would (probably) much rather he started at the front of the grid I would of thought and was making the best of a bad thing

As far as I know, it allowed them to change set ups on Vettel's car to favour overtakes. If they didn't do it, they would have been using qualifying set ups, which favour fast laps but not overtakes. So, if some think Ferrari cheated, we may say that Red Bull and Vettel are cheaters as well.

So is Fangio remembered as a WC that cheated?
