Were Ferrari right to hand Felipe Massa a five-place grid penalty in Texas?

It's within the rules so it's legal, no-one can deny that... It also is fugly. I really wonder how can people feel dignified after doing such a thing, but then again, it's Ferrari... What else do you expect from a one-car team?

It wasn't very sporting to do it, but there was nothing to stop them, I suppose now for a gearbox penalty, the penalty will be a 4 or a 6 place grid drop.

It shows you though that the FIA when making up rules do not think up things properly, they never considered this eventuality

what about red bull all the times they have bent the rules this year runnung things that aren't allowed the engine mapping the wheel centers the floor and getting sent to the back of the grid for no fuel only to take the car into the pits so they could make lots of changes to the gearbox and spoilers to give them a much higher speed advantage that they didnt have in qualifying so alonso team did the right thing

As far as Ferrari's championship hopes are concerned, it is fine, it makes Alonso closer.
But if some other team had done the same thing in a similar situation, the Ferrari International Association (FIA) would have disqualified them from the race for cheating.

Team sport, team orders. No difference from employing a rear-gunner.

Master class of tactics and kudos for being upfront about it rather than trying convince otherwise.

I pray for such opportunity to present it self for for Red Bull, like Alonso already crossed the finishing line and Vettel is 5th Webber 4th with a 30 sec gap and all of a sudden Webber spins the car off or stall it.
