@JohnO: I'd put him in the top 2 of the current grid, together with Alonso. Who's the better driver of the two? Hard to say. I think Hamilton , on equal car, is faster than Alonso, but Alonso seems to be a more mature driver, which over the course of a season can really pay off.

Hamilton's level of performance this season, with tyres that play straight against his driving style, is quite telling of his raw speed and ability as a driver, which I think is second to none. If not for his team's cock-ups and lack of reliability of the car in some races, he'd have the title in the bag. Yes, I know, "if, if..."

Where would Hamilton be on the Ferrari? I think he'd be faster than Fernando, honestly.

I would of thought the complete lack of improvement from merc over the last few month coupled with the abscence of comments from the drivers regarding possibility of improvements has made it obvious they switched all resources to 2013 some time ago.

Just goes to show, that yet again, the McLaren is the fastest car in F1...

Until Vettel wins, then the RBR is the fastest cheat of all time...

Hypocricy makes my teeth hurt, and reading the gobstruck rhetoric on this site gives me a throbbing mouth...

honestly, i would say the top 3 drivers in f1 today in no particular order are Alonso, Hamilton and Vettel. people can argue the order all they like but the only way you could ever prove it definitively is for them to be in the same car and that's never going to happen.

i look forward to a great wet race and i hope hamilton can win his final race driving for maclaren.

as for the wdc i don't really care who wins it but i think on performance with the equipment provided Alonso deserves it more than Vettel but i have a feeling Alonso is going to be disappointed.

I dont understand why some people seem to get so stoked up about the PRACTICE sessions. .!!

The name says it all surely ? - they are PRACTICE ie Testing laps with which the teams try out different setups /tyres etc to evaluate/work out what will suit them best for the Race

Even actual Qualifying - although obviously much, much more relevant to the Race is not necessarily a cast iron indicator as to who will definitely win the Race itself.

I personally believe its best "not to count your chickens till they are hatched."

It will be an interesting race. Their are some good wet track racers in the field so don't underestimate MSC or Kimi. Alonso will need to be on one of the first three rows of the grid to have a chance unless Vettel has a DNF.

It will be an intriguing race and there are a couple of places on the track that get standing water when it rains quite heavily.

I am looking forward to an exciting finish to the season.
