I guess it's understandable. He spent half of his life there. I for one am not sad he's leaving Mclaren. This team is a train wreck. Typical Mclaren now they get their act together after the season is over. Congratulations Whitmarsh another failed year with nothing to show for it.

Ron Dennis doesn't say a lot but I'm guessing he's not that impressed with Twitmarsh this year. If he spent less time giving the media soundbites and more time cutting out the silly mistakes they could have won at least one of the titles. Good to see the addition of Sam Michael has made the team more successful....ahem.

Glad he's leaving waste of a great talent.

Brazil really sums up his season Pole, leading, retires whilst not his fault.

How many potential points lost this year due to circumstances out of his control I can think of at least a 100 off the top of my head!

Going to fun on here when he sticks the Merc on the front row in Australia!

Couldnt do anymore than batter his team mate this year, one real driving error all year in Valencia, the team may have made a few more. Proves though that no matter how brilliant you are, no championships can be won without the team.

Big big Mistake - the Mc's gonna be a winner of a car next season while Merc will remain no-where. Perez 'll shine while Button's set for a great season.... No wonder he's all emotional - Then again Mc's aren't doing it for him at the mo either. End of another Mc error!!! spokeno

The team have let him down. The result at Austin should have been the result of the championship. Hamilton deserves another World title, he is a fast driver. Mercedes will look after him and with him developing the car have a great season. He deserves the recognition for the work he has done to develop the car.

Its really sad the way it worked out.

Piquet to Button: " are you relieved that Hamilton is leaving", Button: "...............".
Says a lot. If JB's not consistently quicker than Perez next year it'll be the beginning of the end for him I think.....

@ spokeno What makes u think that? It will be the same old story with Macca. Mclaren is all bark and no bite. Until they get rid of Martin Whitmarsh I will never take them seriously. They're a train wreck and it will be status qua next year.
