SD had no choice but to shut down the wind tunnel and re-calibrate. That was a major source of the problems that they had this year, but little was made of it generally, apart from some using it to attack them. Spending time and money on ineffective updates really cost them the title, and if it wasn't for FA outdriving the car's potential they would have finished behind Sauber in the Constructors.
So, although I'm a Kimi fan, I suspect that Ferrari should have a good shot at getting it together next year as long as they get the tunnel/cfd/simulator correlation right.

"2005 6 Poles"
"2006 6 Poles"

You think that's a lot, do you?

In 2004 Schumacher took 8 poles. Taking six poles en route to winning the WDC while driving the best car (the Renault also won the WCC those years) is not a feat which denotes blinding speed from a driver.

Alonso has built his career on his ability to start in positions 4-8 and finish on the podium. That's worthy of respect in its own right, and I do respect him for it. But he's never been the quickest driver on the grid. Brazil summed up his career - started 7th, finished 2nd. Partly down to good driving on his art, partly down to not making many mistakes and then moving up when drivers in front of him (Lewis, Hulk) fall out. He's not the quickest but he's close to it, and he is consistent and error free. That's not a bad package of skills.

I would really like to see a few DNFs for El Banco in the beginning of the 2013 season, and at the same time Massa finishing strong. Maybe they would start supporting their faster driver. :)

Well people (Nando's fanboys)has always led us to believe that the Renault 05/06 was a crap car! Though I always thought it was illegal and extremely fast and the Michelin Tyre also helped, compared to the Benetton Renault Schummy drove in 94/95 which had a V8 Ford engine comepared to the Williams V10 engines.

Sunny,

You're not having a go at Richard are you?

Given the rejuvenation of Massa in the latter part of the season, why do Ferrari treat Fernando as the apparent sole focus of their effort for winning the 2013 WDC?

"Di Montezemolo added that he had no doubt that Alonso would be a contender for the title in 2013 if the team can given him the right car."

In my view, their first mistake is to focus the effort on one driver rather than giving equal focus to both drivers.

when they won with same kind of with Michel couple of years when Mclearn(Kimi & Mika) had same problem,u have enjoyed now its others turn....i am really angry y ferrari put their face like this to get sympathy which i don't know.they should understand what ever they got during first half are all luck point which HRT can also get if they are as luck as u.
Second by droping KIMI they commit Sin...which will be with them for long time.i dont know what Alonso made difference from KIMI i dont know, they say this guy is bad PR and Marketing guy but on his own tern he got a ride with other team, make huge fans follow him and brought many sponsors.i am sure which will BURN others in F1.
with same Ferrari fund HRT would have beaten redbull for sure...its not that alonso 120% drive(still i now idea how he give 120%) and team unity (every press meet arhe say wee united strong,is it so that redbull team fight with each other ?
