After watching this picture of McLaren and Ferrari, I started to think about those two great teams, beaten again by the energy-drink outfit. If you look carefully at their seasons, you can understand that McLaren lacked in a sort of thinks that Ferrari had instead. And the contrary of this is very true as well. McLaren started the season with the best package, took more pole positions more than any other team and could had won 9 races this year without problems. Instead they fall with reliability issues, problems with their tyres, bad decisions by their crew, sometimes with driver mistakes, especially with the setup ect..Instead Ferrari started with a slow car that they never managed to turn that in the class of the field. They were slow in qualifying but usually had better race-pace than McLaren. Their car was reliable, their strategies, always nearly perfect, and their driver made only some few mistakes and took nearly every opportunity to take the best results possible, and some lu

The way I see it, is that they are some tracks that you either get Pole or be on the front to win places like Monaco, Barcelona, Hungary etc Button is not that type of person unless the a big difference in speed

Before taking chances McClaren need to sort out the reliability problems, poor pitstops, poor stategy etc and then produce the best car, while they might sort out the minor problems it is very unlikely that they will produce the best car, that again will be the RedBull, therein lies their problem they cannot match Adrien Newry and their No1 driver cannot be relied upon to match Vettel and Alonso or indeed several other drivers. For that to happen he will need the sort of advantage he had at Brawn and that is not going to happen. Best we can hope for is a couple of wins in the wet for Button and a string of crashes and poor qualifying for Perez. They need Raikonnen back and with Button getting near to the end of his career that might just come sooner than later.

They have to do something. Unless Perez really turns it on they are in for a very long year. I really believe 2013 is a make or break year for Whitmarsh. With all that said they're still not going to win either of the Championships next year.

@mike you are so right. I think they are going to regret hiring Perez, however much money he comes with !!! Going on this years performance he has a lot to learn about consideration for other drivers. I think he will develop into a good driver, but needs a calming influence and not in 201!!
