F1 » Vettel title hangs in balance

Sebastian Vettel could be stripped of his third F1 world championship if it can be proved that he passed Jean-Eric Vergne under yellow flags at Interlagos on Sunday.

isn't anyone curious about the car's weight?With all that carbon fiber shed from Vettel's car surely his car would be underweight.Admittedly it's light but still it amounts to at least a few kilos.Just my POV

Having watched the video several times, I think the clue is in the two cars immediately in front of Vergne. The four cars were travelling in convoy until the second yellow light. Just before Vettel overtook Vergne the two cars in front took off like scalded cats (not that I've ever scalded a cat to find out the effect). I would seem that they had seen a green flag, Vettel had seen the green flag, but Vergne had missed it. Simple answer ask the two drivers in front of Vergne at that point if they saw a green flag.

It would be unfortunate if the title changed hands like this, but everyone seems to be missing the point. Regardless of flags, who overtook who and where, Ferrari complaining and so on, which they didn't, not to begin with.

This sport, like any other is about money. If you invested hundreds of millions to take part, wouldn't you want to ensure you were beaten fairly on track. If the situation was reversed, RB would be complaining as well, and they'd be right to do so. Its the nature of the beast. The FIA should have sorted this earlier, maybe they thought they could avoid any embarrassment by saying nothing. Who knows.

It would be an unfortunate end to a great season, but rules are rules. Especially on track. thats what the safety flags are for. Time will tell.

Richard, getting a little miffed your boy is under scrutiny?

@jimmycacan

A red and yellow flag in f1 now stands for slippery track surface and not to slow down or to not overtake.

Flags rule over lights, there was a green one and he passed, job done.

Not a fan of either so could not give a monkeys who won the wdc, good race tho.

That's paranoia. You'll notice all F1 video's are pulled as youtube doesn't have rights to the show them, same applies to EPL footage, two of the worst bodies for chasing copyright I've seen. Nothing to do with a coverup....lol

Man did land on the moon too btw.
