F1 » Vettel title hangs in balance

Sebastian Vettel could be stripped of his third F1 world championship if it can be proved that he passed Jean-Eric Vergne under yellow flags at Interlagos on Sunday.

Dont you guys think that any other driver put in Alonso s position would act differently.

I was born in Italy, but a team(Ferrari)does not the driver who has salvaged their season, to me stinks and does not deserve respect.
The all season they treated Massa like a dog and now they do it to Alonso.
I hope Alonso has an exit clause in his contract and can swap with Vettel in 2014

Ferrari a disgrace

Regardless, his dash was clearly showing yellow flag status all the way until the green light. He chose to ignore the status and overtake. He would have known at the time he was taking a risk and should face the consequences whatever they are like a man.

Same goes for any driver.

That's racing people!

Look at the fanboy war we have here! "Alonso and Ferrari are cheats!" "Fernando deserves it!"

HUSH UP! It's the rules. You are NOT ALLOWED TO PASS UNDER YELLOW FLAGS. If Seb, sadly, did pass under yellow, then it is fair to penalise him. I like both drivers, and to be honest, this is a **** way for a great year to end, but we can't be sure what's going to happen yet. If Vettel wins, congrats. If Alonso wins, congrats. Just stay tune and stop these little fanboy wars.

Just about the first thing anyone who ever sets foot on a race track whether on two or four wheels - you don't overtake on a yellow. If he did it then he has no excuse - face up to the punishment.

For those who say its convenient that this has just come up. As far as i'm aware the FIA have every right to overturn a result (be it championship or a race) if evidence comes to light of foul play EVEN AT A LATER DATE:

Examples:
Spygate
Crashgate (Singapore 2008, wasn't investigated or acted upon until late 2009)

Its its found Vettel broke this rule, then he broke the rule. End of.

There is speculation that a marshal was waving a green flag before Vettel passes the Torro Rosso.

If that's the case, and he does get a penalty, it would be unfair.

However, you could argue that it's poetic justice considering he did not get a penalty for ending Senna and Perez's race with his stupid move at the start of the GP.

Come what may, Vettel rightly deserves at least 1 penalty!
